The Cpt's
Classic Customs
Hi, I wanted a place to show off my bikes, and here we are. I have been building bikes for a long time on a tight budget and started collecting when, and what I can. I like whatever bike strikes my fancy. I don't limit myself to one brand or any certain style or year. This is my hobby, and I don't claim to be a master craftsman or bicycle expert. It's just fun!
I hope you enjoy the site, and I welcome your feedback, ideas, and comments. If you don't have a bike, buy one or build one. Cycling helps keep you young; great exercise!!! Thanks for stopping by.
This is one of my earlier creations. It is a 73 Heavy Duty That I got for 25 bucks. The handlebars I got on Ebay.
Here is an ongoing project. I call it "Thunder Daze" I took a '56 Schwinn straight bar frame and did this to it for lack of original parts, and the fact that I LOVE customs. I still have to decide on the final seat and grip scheme, and whether to add fenders or not.
This is my 2nd attempt at a Lowrider. I call it "Low-Ray-der". It is a '77 Stingray frame I got on ebay. In fact, most of the parts came from there. I got a 5 spd guard for 5 bucks from a local vintage shop, and a Mag chainwheel as well for the same price. It is actually painted with the Krylon Mystique 2 color paint system being purple one way and blue from another view. I am 6'2" so I opted for a tall seat post & sissy bar so I could ride it a bit easier.
This is the new Schwinn "Panther". I got it for X-mas. The rear wheel was kinda messed up (Pacific Quality for ya') so I have since added 144 spoked wheels. I also put the fenders and mirrors on it. Looks pretty good.
This is the bike I got for my wife for X-mas. I believe that Huffy makes a better bike than Pacific does and this bike proves it. It has the smoothest ride I have felt in a long time. I added the mirrors and headlight.
This is "Old Glory". She is a work in progress. An old Sears Fireball frame is the centerpiece for this cool machine. I plan to put stars and stripes on a chainguard, and the chainwheel. Again the tall stuff for easy riding.
This is "LRX". It was a Huffy 8 frame that had a coat of lime green plastic over the chrome. It took me almost 3 days to get the stuff off of it. This is a nice bike, great rider. I may have to put on a shorter crank, though.
This is "Uptown Girl". An early to mid sixties Hiawatha middleweight that I turned into a ballooner. I need to change the front fender brace to accomodate the ballooner tires. Wants to rub a little bit. The seat is awsome. An Electra seat I ordered through Bikeworld USA. I added a crash bar to it as well. Came out really nice, but the paint isn't as rich as in the photo.
Here is an old Sears bike I got in a pile of parts I bought. I thought it was kinda cool so I painted it up and gave it to my 6 yr old grandson. He thinks it is the coolest!
This is "FAKE KRATE". Another old Sears frame I threw together. My grandson was riding it around for a while. Not a bad little bike......
"Big Brother" is a '65 Schwinn middleweight frame I've had laying around a little while. Again the paint is the Krylon Mystique 2 color system. Purple and Gold this time. Very sharp. Rides excellent! I wanted a 26 inch lowrider as I am a little tall to ride my 20 inch LR's comfortably.
This is a '62 Typhoon twinbar with an Electra triple frame threadless fork. I fixed the original wheels from the Panther above and put Dyno Fireball tires on it. I call it "Blaze". Very nice bike. I have another twinbar Typhoon I want to do something with.
This is one of my favorite customs. However, I didn't build it. I bought it from some very nice folks after it failed to sell twice on Ebay. Whoever did the work really put some time into the metal fabrications. The frame is a mid 80's Good Vibrations. I dubbed it War Pony.
This is another 62 Typhoon twinbar frame I call "Blood". I had to widen the "wheel well" to accommodate the 24X3 Dyno Fireball tire. I also had to add a large washer to the crank and sprocket so the chain would clear the tire.
This is the same bike but I switched out the handlebars and this is how it looks now.
This is my very favorite chopper! Of course the frame and most of the parts came from BikeworldUSA. It rides soooo good, nice and comfy, pretty fast, and damn good looking!!!!!
I never liked the looks of the OCC Schwinn Stingray without a fender. I do however, like the black ones but they need a fender so I made one. I took forks from a red and chrome bike, along with a fender that I had chromed. Pacific sent me a new set of decals and here we are. I think it looks much better!
